I understand the monitor technologies are not the same and won't look exact, but it calibrated my Dell monitor I use for digital art totally wrong. So if anyone can tell me what I might be doing wrong, I'd really appreciate it. In the display settings windows, I'm only given one option. I largely went for default options and Gamma 2.2 Furthermore I can't find anywhere on my computer to switch profiles and look at the difference. I've looked up every tutorial I can, everyone does it differently and I don't really know what I'm doing. Datacolor's newest calibration sensor, the SpyderX, is already 64-bit computable, so if you have the Spyder, there's no need to update. This is a problem considering it takes AN HOUR to calibrate. The update, which was required due to the lack of 32-bit application support macOS Catalina, is available as a free software upgrade for all Spyder5 owners. Not only that, but the Dell wasn't calibrated properly at all, its much too dark and I verified this by looking at test charts and I could barely distinguish the blackness levels. The whites on the dell are super blue, the whites on the TN panel are FAR warmer. So then I calibrate the Dell IPS monitor and find the two images are totally different. Then you can either try to launch the app, it will fail with an error that it’s not permitted. I got myself a Spyder 5 Express to calibrate and profile my Acer P221W screen on my Arch Linux system. First goto System Preferences Security & Privacy General tab and make sure the Allow apps downloaded from: section is set to App Store and identified developers. So I downloaded Displa圜al, plugged in the Spyder5, downloaded the drivers, selected the Spyder 4-5 correction data, set white point to 6500k, white level to 120, gamma 2.2, correction (auto) none, calibration speed high. Much better than I could get with datacolor. Took about 1.5 hours each monitor, but the colors are spot on on both, now. I used displaycal and the spyder5 to calibrate the TN and it made it look like my factory calibrated dell IPS monitor. Enabling Displa圜al with this system is a two step process. I calibrated my monitors last night using displa圜AL and your tutorial video (using the Spyder4Pro hardware). Okay so I have a TN panel with totally wrong colors and an IPS panel that was factory calibrated.
